About the Blog

Why I Moderate Comments

I wish I had the time & energy to host a completely open forum on my blog, the right way. But I don’t. I’ve been thrown a curve or two. If I want to keep up my very active life, I have to conserve my energy. That means

  • I’m not interested in running the big race against the spammers – a point brought home by the comments I received within hours of my WordPress set-up, before I’d posted any content.
  • I don’t want to get involved in someone else’s SEO-driven comment stream. Please let me spend my time with clients, family and members of the online community who’d like to engage in meaningful conversation.
  • I can’t always keep a watchful eye online. I hate to delay publishing your heartfelt responses, but in my political/volunteer life I’ve seen raging, incendiary streams wash out the community lives of unmoderated forums.

Please be patient with me. I love to hear from you, and I’m happy to host the get-together. Calmly, like book club at the coffee shop — not all night at the club.

So, agree or disagree. Speak your mind. Offer your advice. But please speak as a real person, not a keyword. Feel free to link to a post you’ve written if it furthers the conversation, but leave out your affiliate links. Above all, be civil. After all, here we’re all partners.

Affiliate Links

I don’t sell advertising on this site. However, I may include affiliate links in my blog text. That means I may share a resource I really like, then insert a link so you can click through to buy it. I’ll receive a referral fee from your click-through. Helps pay for the web hosting.

I promise: I don’t recommend anything just to receive a referral fee. I’ve read it or I’ve used it, and I believe in it. If you doubt me, borrow it or buy it by some other method and try it out.

Mine, All Mine!

Unless I note that something was provided by someone else (by permission or with proper attribution), I wrote all the content on this website. Images either are mine or are used subject to a license, with attribution.

Again, here we’re all partners. Please honor the give-and-take. You may take advantage of sharing MY work if you give me credit – comment on my material in a post elsewhere, link back to my site or reprint no more than 150 words as a quote. Please offer the same courtesy to others who contribute to this site, whether by means of license, guest posting or comments.
